Coppell Caps 18-0 Regular Season With Senior Night Win Over Frisco Independence

Coppell Tennis completed an undefeated regular season Friday with a 16-3 victory over Frisco Independence at the Coppell Tennis Center, improving to 18-0 on Senior Night.
Coppell built a 5-2 advantage through the seven official doubles matches. Steve Jack and Cody Chow won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 boys doubles, while Eshaan Reddy and Sunny Tupurani rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3. On the girls side, Varsha Sivaprasad and Palkin Gangwal won 7-5, 6-3, and Anna Hartley and Mihika Modi took their match 6-1, 6-3. Abhijay Mantena and Gloria Sun rallied from a first-set loss to win mixed doubles 4-6, 6-3, 10-5.

The Cowboys then swept all six boys singles lines. Ethan Yang won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1, followed by straight-set victories from Jack, Reddy, Chow, Ivan Morales Miranda and Mantena.

Coppell was nearly as strong in girls singles, winning five of six. Sivaprasad won 6-2, 6-2, Gangwal took a 6-0, 6-4 victory and Gloria Sun did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win. Modi and Hartley also earned straight-set victories.

The night also gave Coppell an opportunity to recognize its 16 seniors: Chloe Ahmad, Arnav Ambegaonkar, Shaurya Arora, Aaryan Birudaraju, Morgan Fang, Anna Hartley, Steve Jack, Ryan Juramongkol, Aadyaa Mehrotra, Ananya Miyapuram, Ivan Morales Miranda, Anirudh Naveen, Prabhat Pandey, Eshaan Reddy, Sofia Rothey and Sourav Tupurani.

The Senior Night victory puts an exclamation point on a regular season in which Coppell went 18-0, defeated Plano West for the first time in program history according to the team, beat Lake Travis in an 11-8 test and captured the District 7-6A championship.

Now the season shifts to the UIL playoffs. Coppell opens the postseason against South Grand Prairie on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 4:30 p.m. at the Coppell Tennis Center. The matchup falls in the UIL's Oct. 5-6 bi-district round, with Coppell representing District 7-6A and South Grand Prairie representing District 8-6A.
